Occupational Therapist

What I do as an Occupational Therapist:

I have been practicing Occupational Therapy since 2016 and have always dreamt of working with paediatric age groups. I love learning with a focus on evidence based research to keep my therapy sessions engaging and up to date. I am passionate about working in groups to build on social and daily living skills. I love to encourage my kids to get creative with my craft groups because I love them too! When I have a free moment you will find me outdoors.

My areas of expertise:

I love working on a variety of skills including; fine motor, gross motor, handwriting, self-care, emotional regulation, behaviour, toileting, school readiness, anxiety, sensory regulation and more. I am also trained and experienced in the SOS (Sequential Oral Sensory) approach, and enjoy working with clients to develop more exploratory and less stressful meal times.

My Therapist experiences:

I’ve been practicing as an Occupational Therapist since 2013. I have a range of experiences in occupational rehabilitation and community roles across all ages. My areas of interest include early childhood development and intervention, running groups and school readiness. I also enjoy working with adults to support activities of daily living and community access.

A little about me:

I previously lived in Hobart, Tasmania, and regularly spent time at the beach and mountains after work. My home has been in Melbourne since 2017. When I am not working, my days are occupied with my kids and anywhere outdoors. You may catch me with a ball of yarn and a crochet hook if I ever have a spare minute!

What made me love Occupational Therapy:

I started out wanting to be an Occupational Therapist after I watched my two older sisters passionately work and practice as OTs themselves. This career path has meant I can pursue my passion in helping people and I love taking the time to understand and tailor therapy to individual needs.

I work with all ages, young and old. While I really enjoy encouraging little ones to get their fingers busy making things, I am also a great listener and problem solver. This comes in handy when working with my adult clients and helps me to understand them as a person including all of their interests and goals.

A bit about me:

In my free time, I love playing sports, getting creative with drawing and going outside to explore with my family and kids, who I have watched grow into their own unique personalities. My experiences as a mum have helped me to grow as a therapist and I understand the importance of nurturing each individual personality to help them reach their potential!

My role at My Therapy Assist:

I oversee and manage all of the programs and procedures at My Therapy Assist to provide our clients with the most efficient and smooth experience possible.

I am also currently working as an office administrator which gives me the opportunity to get to know the people we work with and understand what matters to them.

A little about me:

I have many years of experience as an ICT professional across private and public organisations. Nothing matters more to me than family and supporting others. I too enjoy being outdoors and enjoy a good cup of coffee in front of a camp fire.
